CrossFit Level I Certification
I grew up in Wichita, Kansas, graduated from Heights High and immediately enlisted in the US NAVY. After my commitment to the military was fulfilled, I obtained employment in the aircraft industry and have worked in the field in various capacities for over 30 years. I have had an interest in fitness and sports most of my life. I played football and baseball as a young boy and I think this helped build the foundation for being active. I have always played some form of team or individual sport since those days including adult league baseball, softball, and golf to name a few.
In my 40s I became burned out on the traditional gym workout regimen that I had been doing since high school. I quit working out for a time. In 2011 a friend brought me to a CrossFit gym (this gym in fact) and I have been doing CrossFit ever since. This sport rekindled my desire to stay fit and active. I soon found that I was spending less time in the gym and making significant gains in strength, endurance, and overall fitness. I can honestly say today that I am stronger, have better endurance, and I am overall in better health than I have ever been in my life. The only thing I did differently was to join a CrossFit gym.
CrossFit is a game-changer as it relates to health and fitness. My passion is around ensuring this fitness regimen is available to anyone and everyone. The magic behind combining gymnastics, strength training, and endurance training are undeniable. It will produce results for anyone.
Through my own health obstacles, I have felt the negative impact self-judgment and life's stressors have on day-to-day functioning. My hope is to help instill in others the understanding and compassion that there is “no wrong way to have a body (see here)” and to discover the power of finding their “why” in order to live their fullest life.
